| Prince George's County has seen many regional
and national builders come and go over the past quarter century,
but one of the county's biggest success stories is that of three
"local boys" who now work together as partners in Bowie-based
K&P Builders.
The success of K&P is due to hard work and care, says company President
Roy F. Kilby. "We care about our employees and our customers. We
look at each home as if it were our own. After all, we're building
for people who will be our neighbors and friends."
Vernon D. Pizzi and Edmond H. Kilby are vice presidents and partners
in K&P Builders. The three partners have more than 100 years of
experience in every aspect of the construction process, and all
three subscribe
to the principle of "hands-on" management. At every stage of construction,
at least one of the partners check each house to make sure that
it meets the company's Zero Defect policy.
And, that dedication has been recognized over the years. K&P was
named the regional winner of the National Ace Award for quality
home construction. The company was selected from more than 1,700
Home Owners Warranty Corporation builders in a region that stretches
as far north as Delaware. K&P is also a recent winner of the HOW
builder of the Year Award.
Their commitment to quality along with their knowledge of their
community, give the partners at K&P a distinct edge over other builders.
"Living in an area, you get a sense of what people want," Pizzi
says. "Today, many of our homes offer special features like 10 foot ceilings, elevators, home spas, and theatres". Our ability to customize to each homeowner's unique needs is what sets us apart.
As long-time residents of Prince George's County, the partners
of K&P are active in much more than just their own business. They
contribute by serving on a number of boards and associations, including
the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce, the Maryland Capitol Area
Building Industry Association, and the Prince George's County Schools
Trade Foundation. "Prince George's County has been good to us,"
says Roy Kilby. "We want to give back as much as we can."
